Professional

I’m an experienced writer who specializes in content marketing, SEO, and marketing strategy. With more than 10 years of experience in content writing, I’ve worked across multiple industries, including higher education, state government, edtech, cybersecurity, and IT software. My passion lies in cybersecurity writing and making technical content accessible.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in English (technical writing) and a master’s degree in communication (public relations). I’m also a Cyber Defense Certified Professional from having completed a 14-week, hands-on cybersecurity training program (Level Effect). Graduates of this program staff cybersecurity companies such as CrowdStrike, Rapid7, Booz Allen, Huntress, and Darktrace.

My take on AI

I’m unashamed to admit that I use AI to scale and force-multiply my content efforts — but in very specific ways.

I use AI as a content brainstorming partner and an SEO companion. What I won't hand off is the actual writing or design. People can spot AI-generated content a mile away, especially in cybersecurity, and that job still belongs to a human.

Personal

I live just outside of Pensacola, FL, with my wonderful husband, Bryan; our 2 cats; and our 5 (yes, 5) parrots. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me playing a video game, watching a true crime documentary, or getting lost in a good psychological thriller.

My writing style

I spent years as a college student learning to write formally and professionally (e.g., no contractions, no first-person point-of-view, using lofty language, etc.).

Then, I got my first job outside of college and unlearned all that nonsense. :)

I tend to keep my writing casual, jargon-free, and simple. I love infusing humor into my copy when I can. And if I can find a place for a pun, even better. I’m well-versed in adapting my writing voice to adhere to brand voices, too.

And as for the Oxford comma, you’ll have to rip it out of my cold, dead, and lifeless hands. ;)
